SistahGirl: Black Women & HIV/AIDS is a documentary project featuring the lives of HIV positive Black women from the US, with some traveling to sub-Saharan Africa to meet HIV positive African women activists to exchange ideas about prevention, treatment, physical, and spiritual healing.
SistahGirl will also examine the complex reasons behind the high rates of infection in this population including: poverty and discrimination; self-esteem and self love; and a culture of silence around sexuality in the Black community. |
